Close. Very close.

Toulouse hang on with fourteen men.

Chiefs gave it a real good go, but down to fourteen from the 16th minute, Toulouse somehow held on. Montpellier's win at Bath was a signal of French intent to continue their recent domination of this competition.

Endless TMO pauses in stop-start affair.

If we are to have the incessant use of technology then why can't we hear the referee's reasoning out loud and in real time? Sunday afternoon in the Toulouse Stadium, sold out at 33,500 with plenty of Chiefs fans in attendance, with their painful wailing noise (the Tomohawk Chop?), offered plenty of evidence for rugby to go all the way and get the refs mic'd up. If necessary, with translation.

There wasn't much debate about Neti's 16th minute red for his no-arms shoulder-to-head contact with Ross Vintcent, but later incidents seemed to require several replays. The lack of clarification for the benefit of the crowd seemed a big miss to this spectator. It would add so much to the experience.
